Saturday, June 16, 2007-Minneapolis, Minnesota
A professional hockey player marries a midwestern girl, not an uncommon occurrence in Minnesota. Abby and Ryan had the picture-perfect June wedding.
The Twin Cities Gospel Choir greeted guests as they arrived at the towering St. Mark’s Cathedral. The music was awesome, and blended with a true Irish Celtic harpist and vocalist it honored the groom’s Irish heritage. The service was warm and traditional. Following a large group photo taken on the steps of the cathedral, the guests were driven to the Graves 601 Hotel for the reception.
The Graves 601 Hotel is a contemporary boutique hotel in the heart of Minneapolis’ theater and arts district. Guests arrived and were treated to a tattoo of the bride and groom’s monogram, along with a Jagermeister bar. The setting was designed to be young, fresh, sophisticated – a definite reflection the bride and groom. The wedding cake was positioned for all guests to see and appeared to be floating in a pool of water. Pre dinner entertainment included a talented magician performing amazing tricks, and an active martini luge.
Upon entrance to the ballroom, a gorgeous display of lighting and décor transformed the room to a warm and intimate lounge scene. The bride and groom were welcomed to the dance floor for their first dance prior to the first course being served. After the first dance, a warm welcome from the bride’s father and a blessing from a close family friend kicked off an amazing dinner of filet mignon paired with a tail of lobster. Guests dined to live dinner music and enjoyed dancing throughout dinner.
Following the amazing meal, guests were invited to the dance floor. The bride changed gowns and appeared in her party dress. Dancing went on through the night while guests enjoyed the antique photo booth and created a special memory book for the bride and groom.
After the dance, the wedding guests were invited downstairs to a late night party in a privately rented nightclub. Food and drinks were served and a DJ spun tunes late into the night.
